They may be hard to find, but they’re invaluable in the cold winter months when going outside is an unappetizing prospect. Both sides of campus have their own underground network connecting the buildings, but unfortunately these two sides never meet. Getting from McLennan Library through Redpath, Leacock and the Arts Building to arrive at Dawson Hall is pretty convenient. On the other side you can start at McConnell and make your way through FDA, Macdonald Harrington, Macdonald Stewart, Macdonald Engineering, Burnside and Otto Maass without ever stepping outside. And yes, there are three buildings in a row with the name Macdonald, all named after Sir William Macdonald, a philanthropist who donated money and land to McGill in the early 1900’s.
